Counter-Strike 2 is the follow-up to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the multiplayer FPS which has dominated the competitive shooting scene for years. It replaced CS:GO overnight in a shadow-dropped launch on Steam in September 2023. Inventories from Global Offensive automatically carried over to its successor. Counter-Strike 2 is based on Valve's latest Source 2 engine, and features upgraded and overhauled maps, improved lighting and new visual effects, plus much more. The free-to-play shooter also boasts a revised ‘CS Rating’ leaderboard system and an updated Premier mode.
