Parents and Guardians
At Wise Origin College we understand that it’s not just learners or employers that have questions, parents or guardians can equally want to find out more information. Therefore, we have put together a few frequently asked questions below.
Government rules and regulations now make it mandatory for a child to stay in education until they are aged 18. Not every child once they reach the age of 16 feels that mainstream education is the right place for them to continue their development. Therefore, an apprenticeship is an excellent alternative to help your child progress into a career that is best suited to them. Through an apprenticeship at Wise Origin College, your child will obtain high-quality training that is applied to the real world. Alongside this, your child will be able to earn a wage, increase in confidence through the new skills they have learned and receive a nationally recognised qualification.
Wise Origin College offers a wide variety of apprenticeships. Please check out our courses for more information.
Yes. All apprentices get paid at least the national minimum apprentice wage which is set at £4.30 per hour. Many of our employers however pay more than this from the start or increase it within an agreed timeframe once the apprentice is settled and performing well.
A modern-day apprenticeship is a competitive and real alternative to college or university. An apprenticeship allows a learner to experience the real working environment and gain valuable skills with a nationally recognised qualification at the end. Apprentices can do this without getting into student loan debt while learning how to manage their own finances through the income they earn.
If your child is aged between 16-18 a traineeship is another fantastic option to develop their skills and prepare them for work. The Wise Origin College traineeship programme will give your child the key skills to make them more employable and progress them onto an apprenticeship. In addition to gaining a qualification, the traineeship also has a two-week work placement element which gives potential employers the chance to meet your child and see how well they can fit into their organisation prior to making them an official apprenticeship offer.
